“All-American City Award” fundraisers
There will be three upcoming fundraisers to help support and send students to Denver in June for the “All-American City” finals. There are 20 finalist communities from around the country competing to be one of 10 communities selected to be a National Civic League All-American City. Columbia Heights is hoping to raise $15,000 to send a team of residents, youth, seniors, and community leaders to the finals to present their stories and highlighted projects.
Columbia Heights Noodles & Company, 5220 Central Ave. NE, will donate 50 percent of proceeds to the campaign when patrons who visit Thursday, May 12, 10:30 a.m.-8 p.m., mention that they are there on behalf of the fundraiser.
There will be a family friendly evening of fun for all at the Columbia Heights Public Safety Building, 825 41st Ave. NE, Friday, May 20, 6-10 p.m. Activities will include music by Mixed Brew Variety Band, fire truck rides, family activities, food, bingo, a raffle, and beer. Proceeds will go toward sending a youth delegation to the finals. Admission is $5. Children younger than 12 will be admitted for free.
The Columbia Heights Boosters will donate all proceeds from meat raffles at Miller’s, 547 40th Ave. NE, every Saturday night until June 11 (except May 28), to the All-American City campaign.
