“Archive Saturday” at Art-A-Whirl

The Diverse Emerging Music Organization (DEMO) will host “Archive Saturday,” a special event dedicated to promoting the Minnesota Music Archive (MMA) place on Saturday, May 17, 12-8 pm at the Twin Ignition Start Up Garage, 1317 Marshall St. NE, during Art-A-Whirl. Archive Saturday aims to increase donations to the Minnesota Music Archive, raise awareness about the archive’s mission, and engage the community through a unique and interactive experience. Attendees are encouraged to donate Minnesota music to the archive in exchange for a free Surly drink (one drink ticket per person). Larger donations can opt for a DEMO tee shirt instead, while supplies last. Cornbread Harris will perform during the afternoon. Andrea Swensson will sign copies of her book about Cornbread and “There’s Something Happening Here.” Enjoy other live peformances and artists. The MMA is dedicated to digitally preserving and promoting the vibrant and diverse musical heritage of Minnesota. From polka to hip-hop, heavy metal to country, classical to Tejano, jazz to traditional Indigenous sounds, the MMA ensures that Minnesota’s musical diversity, history, and creativity are fully displayed for current and future generations.
