Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025, 11 am-12 pm, Minnesota Tool Library — NE Minneapolis Branch, 1620 Central Ave. NE #126. Join the tool library for coffee and learn about home security options. Security systems and surveillance cameras serve a broader purpose than deterring and detecting break-ins. They can alert you to home safety events even when you’re away, such as fires, carbon monoxide alarms, water leaks, furnace malfunctions that could lead to frozen or burst pipes as well as unusual activity around your property. Hear a short presentation on the different types of DIY security systems, the installation process and the pros and cons of central station monitoring. Then, participate in a Q&A session on the topic. This event is free for MTL members; guests are asked to make a $5 donation. Meet the Instructor: Rick Muscoplat is a former electrician, ASE Master Auto Technician and writer of a DIY fix-it column for The Family Handyman. Register now at MNToolLibrary.SimpleTix.com.
