Buy compost at CH Recycling Center Saturdays
Event Navigation
The Columbia Heights High School Key Club is selling finished compost as part of the MN Composting Council’s “Plate to Garden Compost” fundraiser at the Columbia Heights recycling center, 3801 Madison St. open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. People do not have to be Columbia Heights residents to receive the compost. Let a Key Club member know you are already participating in an organics recycling program (there are several around the Metro) or just bring some organics to drop-off at the recycling center when you take the compost. The Key Club will have flyers on Metro Area organics recycling programs. Reduce trash disposal, gain compost. The main benefit of compost for a typical household is it can lessen the need for chemical fertilizers on lawns, gardens, and potted plants, thereby reducing phosphorus runoff into lakes and rivers. The Key Club will be out Saturdays (except Memorial weekend) until the end of school year.
