Cine Latino Festival

The MSP Film Society announced the lineup for its 2021 Cine Latino Film Festival, Oct. 8-14. The hybrid festival presents more than 20 award-winning narrative and documentary films with in-person screenings, filmmaker conversations, and Cine Latino at Home/en Casa, their virtual cinema platform. Friday, Oct. 8 is the kickoff, with a special screening of the film, “Prayers for the Stolen (Noche de Fuego),” directed by Tatiana Huezo and premiered at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, where it won a Special Mention in the Un Certain Regard section. It will be preceded by the animated short film, Rosa Rosae, “A Spanish Civil War Elegy (Rosa rosae. La Guerra Civil),” directed by Carlos Saura and premiered at the San Sebastián Film Festival. Cine Latino opening night tickets include an invitation to the opening night party on the terrace of The Hideway, 219 Main St. SE, with a special performance by Mexican musician Azul Barrientos.
