Winter Reading Program for Adults: Runs through Feb 28. Adults (18+) can submit mini book reviews to be eligible for weekly prizes and the grand prize: one of two gift cards to The Heights movie theater. Book review forms are available at the library or on the library website.
Minnesota from the Road: Storyteller Doug Ohman: Sat, March 4, 11 am: Urban Gems of St. Paul. A historian, photographer and storyteller all rolled into one, Doug Ohman has published 14 books about Minnesota. He will present an interactive slideshow. Registration encouraged.
Colorful Pet Portraits: Monday, Feb. 13, 5:30 pm. Create a cozy portrait of your pet using colored pencil and chalk pastel.Work on tinted paper and the teaching artist will lead you through sketching and rendering a lifelike animal drawing. Please bring a photo of your pet printed on printer paper. This program is funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Registration required.
Library Book Club: Wednesday, Feb. 15, 10 am: “Winterdance: The fine madness of running the Iditarod” by Gary Paulsen. Drop in for a book discussion or become a regular member. No registration required.
Consult with the Law Librarian: Thursday, Feb 23, 5-7 pm. The Anoka County Law Library Director will be at the Columbia Heights Public Library each month to answer legal reference questions, help locate legal forms and provide referral services where possible. Conversation Circle: Mondays, 5:30 pm (starts back up Feb 6) and Thursdays, 2 pm. Conversation Circle is a casual gathering of English-language adult learners who meet at the library to practice their speaking skills in a group setting with help from an English-speaking volunteer.
