Adult programs
Cozy Up with a Book and Win! Jan. 9-Feb. 28. Read and rate books for a chance to win prizes. Adults (18+) can submit mini book reviews Jan. 9-Feb. 28 to be eligible for weekly prizes and the grand prize: one of two gift cards to The Heights movie theater. Book review forms will be available at the library or on the library website. Book reviews may be shared in the library or on social media.
Getting Started with Libby: Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2 pm, or Saturday, Feb. 4, 2 pm. Meet Libby, the library app for reading e-books and listening to audiobooks. Bring your smartphone if you’d like help downloading the app. Registration required.
Consult with the Law Librarian: Thursday, Jan. 26, 5-7 pm. The Anoka County Law Library director will be at the Columbia Heights Public Library each month to answer legal reference questions, help locate legal forms, and provide referral services where possible. Please note that law library staff are not attorneys and cannot provide legal opinions, interpretations or advice. No registration required.
Block Printing: Winter Landscape Cards: Monday, Jan. 30, 5:30 pm. Celebrate the winter season with a handmade touch. Learn to design, draw, carve and print using a linoleum cutter and printing block. Then mix your favorite colors of ink and press a set of handmade cards to give to friends, family, neighbors, or colleagues. Funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Registration required.
Conversation Circle: Monday, 5:30-6:30 pm, Jan. 30 and Thursday, 2-3 pm, Jan. 26. Conversation Circle is a casual gathering of English-language adult learners who meet at the library to practice their speaking skills in a group setting with help from an English-speaking volunteer. No registration required.
Youth Programs
ENCORE: Brain Buster Days: Monday, Jan. 30, 11:30 am-1:30 pm. Bored on your days off from school? Come to the Columbia Heights Library for brain busting challenges, FREE delicious food, and fun with your peers. This will also be an opportunity to voice your opinion on current and future out-of-school time classes. Test your knowledge with escape rooms, trivia, break-out boxes, scavenger hunts and more. Ages 12-18. Registration recommended.
