Cozy Clay Cocoa Mugs: Saturday, Feb. 25, 10:30-12 pm. Make your very own cocoa mug out of clay and decorate it with cozy motifs and patterns. A teaching artist will show you how to use a variety of techniques such as slab building, pinch pots and coil building to construct a sturdy ceramic mug that you can enjoy for years to come. Artistry will take all the mugs from class and fire and glaze them. The finished pieces will be solid, foodsafe, and totally one of a kind. It will take up to 3 weeks for Artistry to fire and return completed work. Registration required. Funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
Teen DIY: Boba Tea: Tuesday, Feb 14, 5:30-6:30 pm. A night of all things boba tea! Drink boba tea while making boba tea-themed crafts. Ages 12-18. Registration required.
Publish Your Own Zine! Wednesday, March 1, 5:30-7 pm and Wednesday, March 8, 5:30-7 pm. A zine is a magazine or booklet that contains art, images, and words about any topic. Popular themes are music, poetry, art and social justice. Each participant will make a one-page folded zine using markers, found imagery, collage and a photocopier. A brief history of zines will be covered with visual examples to inspire your own projects. Students will leave the class with two zines that can be shared with family and friends, and the Columbia Heights library archive, with extras for distribution in local free libraries. Ages 12-18. Registration recommended.
