Comments on MPCA Xcel Riverside permit wanted

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is seeking comments, through Feb. 27, on plans to reissue a permit for Xcel Energy’s Riverside generating plant, at 3100 Marshall St. NE.
Xcel’s plant is in an area that meets EPA-defined criteria for an environmental justice area because more than 40% of people who live there are part of a low-income household. The MPCA is currently in the process of reissuing Riverside’s air quality permit. The reissued permit will include a number of changes including a major amendment that relates mainly to switching from coal to gas.
