Community Connections Conference
February 1, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
The City of Minneapolis will hold its annual Community Connections Conference, Saturday, Feb. 1, 9 am-4 pm (check-in starts at 8 am), at the Minneapolis Convention Center, 1301 Second Ave. S., Hall A, Lower Level. The free, annual conference fosters connections between the residents of Minneapolis, community groups, neighborhoods, and local government. In 2019, 885 people participated.
This year’s theme is “We count,” a call to action to get involved in decision-making through things like getting counted in the US census, voting, joining an advisory committee or neighborhood board, learning about important local issues and City policies, or volunteering.
The family friendly conference will feature: free food; performances by local artists; pickup soccer and goody bags for the first 100 kids; bilingual community dialogues on topics including crime prevention and recovering lost wages due to wage theft; resources for maintaining or purchasing a home; job training opportunities and small business assistance; health and addiction treatment resources; free and low-cost legal aid; information about elections and a preview of the 2020 census questions; and presentations and success stories from organizations doing census outreach and voter registration.
