Edison Band concerts

The Edison High School Band will play a concert, Thursday, Dec. 9, 7 pm, featuring Concert Band, Jazz Band and Beginning Drum Lines. The concert will feature “Christine’s Lullaby” by Minneapolis composer Carl Schroeder. This is only the third time the concert band version of this piece has been performed — following its premier at Lincoln Center in New York and a performance by a band in Wisconsin. Schroeder wrote the piece following the death of 2 1/2-year-old Christine Hanson on Flight 185, which crashed into the World Trade Center in New York on Sept. 11, 2001.

The second Instrumental Music Winter Concert will be on Tuesday, Dec.14, 7 pm. and will feature Advanced Drum line, Beginning Band and Rock Bands. All events are free. Email mps.edison@mpls.k12.mn.us with questions. Lesley Earles, conductor.
