Wednesday evening, Sept. 7, local artists, neighborhood organizers, and concerned citizens will be gathering to protest the ongoing water and air pollution plaguing North and Northeast Minneapolis along the Upper Mississippi River. To highlight the experience of living with heavy industrial polluters and expose community concerns, the band Poliça and local experiential company, Manufacture, are hosting a music and performance event along the shore of the Mississippi River. Rain or shine, the Lowry Bridge Peaceful Procession starts at 6 p.m. Meet on the Northside of the Lowry Bridge on Lowry Avenue North and North 2nd St. Bring signs reading “Danger LEAD Air,” “Clean Air Now,” etc. Extra signs will be provided. Picnic dinner and conversation starts at 7 p.m. at 2204 Marshall St. NE. BYOF and BYOD (bring your own food and drink.) The Anchor Fish and Chips food truck will be selling food but there will be no food or drink provided. Also bring a blanket or lawn chair, and mosquito spray. Music starts at 8 p.m. by Poliça on the Mississippi River. Event ends at 10 p.m. Follow the event on social media with, @dangerleadair, @thisispolica and #environmentaljustice.
