“Franconia in the City” at Casket

As part of its 20th anniversary celebration, Franconia Sculpture Park, in Shafer, Minnesota, will have an alumni show at its satellite gallery, at the Casket Arts Complex, 1781 Jefferson St. NE. The exhibit will be open Fridays and Saturdays, noon-4 p.m., and by appointment, through May 22.

Since the organization’s inception in 1996, Franconia has managed a residency program in which artists create work on a monumental scale, and exhibit original sculpture. More than 90 alumni fellows will return to exhibit small sculptures, maquettes (small-scale models or rough drafts of unfinished sculptures), 2D drawings, digital prints, and photographs during the alumni show. Entries will be reviewed as proposals for work to be fabricated and installed, large-scale, at Franconia Sculpture Park.

Franconia will also participate in Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association’s Art-a-Whirl, Friday, May 20, 5-10 p.m., Saturday, May 21, noon-8 p.m., and Sunday, May 22, noon-5 p.m. For more information on ways Franconia will celebrate its anniversary, visit www.franconia.org.
