Free paper shredding and recycling event

Anoka County residents are invited to a free paper shredding and spring recycling event, sponsored by the Waste Reduction and Recycling Board and the Anoka County Lions, Saturday, April 24, 8 am-noon at 501 Pierce St., Anoka.
Up to five boxes or bags of mixed paper, envelopes, and file folders are accepted. Paper clips and staples are fine, but no laminated, carbon paper, or 3-ring binders are accepted.
Other items free to recycle at this event include all major appliances and vacuum cleaners, batteries, bicycles, cell phones, eyeglasses, ink cartridges, hearing aids, computer towers, laptops, tablets, keyboards and accessories, corrugated cardboard (flattened), fluorescent bulbs and ballasts, holiday lights, and scrap metal. Additional items may be recycled for a fee including electronics, desktop printers, mattresses and box springs, and tires.
