There are several alternatives to door-to-door trick-or-treating, and several are on days other than Halloween October 31.
Minneapolis parks: Bottineau Park, 2000 2nd St. NE, will have pumpkin carving and decorating while supplies last, on Oct. 22, 1-3:30 p.m. Logan Park, 690 13th Ave. NE, will host kids under age 6 on Friday, Oct. 28, 6-8 p.m. for costume party activities (pre-register). On Halloween night, Monday, Oct. 31, 5-7 p.m. at Windom Park, 2251 NE Hayes St., the upper Northeast parks will offer food, games, and entertainment. Treats will be handed out to the first 350 children. Additional treats will be given out at the various game stations. Registration is not required. In Beltrami Park, 1111 Summer St. NE on Saturday, Oct. 29, 6-9 p.m. the neighborhood organization is offering a free magic show at 7:15, free tricks and treats, and a haunted park history tour for $2. The Northeast Pumpkin Grab is changing things up this year, with events in Chute Square at the corner of University and Central avenues SE, on October 25, 4-8 p.m. Pumpkins will be for sale, and there will be tours of the Ard Godfrey house, face painting, photo contest and goody bags.
On October 31, the Johnson Street merchants between 28th and 29th and Johnson will have their Trick-or-Treat event for kids in costume, for one hour 5-6 p.m.
