Hennepin History presents: ‘Tis the Season

Hennepin History Museum will host an online pay-as-you-can event, ‘Tis the Season, Saturday, Dec. 19, 1-2:30 pm. Join Alex Weston, a public historian and filmmaker based in the Twin Cities, to examine the history of various holiday traditions as they have been observed in Minnesota over the last 150 years.

Hear about the local history of Hanukkah, Christmas, and Ramadan, as well as Julebukking, Ōmisoka, and Kwanzaa. What is “Christmas creep” and how did this season become so important to Minnesota retailers?
