Saturday, Aug. 5, 2-3:30 pm. Pierre Bottineau Library, 55 Broadway St. NE. Tom Ryther and Jeff Lonto will host a discussion on the history of journalism. Tom Ryther covered news and sports for 36 years after graduating from journalism school at the University of Missouri. He personally interviewed presidents Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, as well as many senators, newsmakers, and famous athletes including Muhammad Ali and Bud Grant. Ryther spent 20 years in Minnesota with KSTP-TV and KARE11-TV. Jeff Lonto is a local historian with many books and articles to his name, including Ryther’s memoir, “The Hummelsheim Kid: The Amazing Story of a Broadcast Journalist.” Q&A session to follow.
