Event Navigation
The Holland Arts Building, 607 22nd Ave. NE, built in 1916 as the Polish National Catholic School, will have a Grand Re-Opening Celebration, Saturday, Aug. 17, 4-9 pm, with open studios throughout the building and artists showing and selling their wares.
Mercury Trigger and Michael Hanna (of Ready Freddy), sponsored by Conduit Sound, will play throughout the evening on the back dock. There will be free root-beer floats and a raffle for those who visit all the open studios.
Twenty tenant artists of multiple media, including ceramicists, painters, exhibit services, woodworkers, guitar makers, jewelry makers, photographers, makeup artists, print makers, and a yoga studio, will have their studios open to the public.
A mural in the basement by local muralist Liv Novotny, new signage throughout the building, period-appropriate epoxy floors, and other vintage details show off the design aesthetic of the new space. The building has also begun to have a presence online through social media @hollandartsne and at hollandartsnempls.com.
Tenants include Bear Creek Guitars, Corvidae Guitars, Friendly Bear Stoneware, Leah Fargo, Ian Russell-McCoy, Hossle Woodworks, Michael Benedetti, Rush Block, Dame Errant Pottery, Outhouse Exhibit Services, Bernadette Fox Photography, Swann & Crow, Evan Hauser Ceramics, Emily Quandahl Art, Lauren Wells, Brooklyn Black Makeup, Carrie Stasica, 612 Jungle, and Sandwich Ceramics.
