“Masses for the Masses” liturgies at Mercy Seat

Mercy Seat Lutheran Church, 1500 Sixth St. NE, at Grace Center, is having a showcase of commissioned original liturgical music, “Masses for the Masses,” by local songwriters. Upcoming performances include Wes Burdine of Gospel Machine, July 10; Ben Kyle of Romantica, July 17; Chris Koza of Rogue Valley, July 24; and Greg Schaefer of GST, July 31. Services begin at 5 p.m. on Sundays. Since 2006, Mercy Seat has given creative control of its music to local songwriters to breathe new life into the church’s ancient liturgical tradition while supporting local.
