Metro Blooms, a local non-profit organization that works to strengthen communities by promoting environmentally sound landscaping that beautifies neighborhoods and protects the environment, will have Blue Thumb “Creating a Resilient Yard” workshops at 11 Twin Cities locations through June.
Metro Blooms is offering three different workshops to share practices for creating resilience in your yard so it can withstand unseasonable warmth, long periods of drought, and flooding rains: Resilient Yards (2.5 hours), Turf Alternatives (1.5 hours), and Healthy Soils (1.5 hours). Attendees will receive practical information about installing projects, including available cost-share programs and Blue Thumb resources to help get a project in the ground.
Local workshops include: Healthy Soils, Tuesday, April 16, at Audubon Recreation Center, 1320 29th Ave. NE; Resilient Yards, Thursday, April 18, at Northeast Recreation Center, 1530 Johnson St. NE, and Tuesday, April 23, at Audubon Recreation Center; and Turf Alternatives, Thursday, June 6, at Northeast Recreation Center. All workshops begin at 6 pm.
The cost is $15 per household unless otherwise noted. Scholarships are available upon request. Register is required. Some locations fill up fast.
