Event Navigation
Minnesota Quilters will have two Minnesota Quilt Project lectures to celebrate Women’s History Month.
Minnesota’s Quilts: Telling the Stories, Thursday, March 3, at 7 p.m., will examine the stories behind a selection of historic quilts in the permanent collection of the Minnesota Historical Society. Linda McShannock, Associate Curator, has picked out her favorite quilts and their stories that span three centuries of quiltmaking.
In Minnesota’s Quilts: The Quilt Book, Saturday, March 5, at 7 p.m., Gail Bakkom, of the Minnesota Quilt Project, will cover a brief history of documentations, the making of the Minnesota book, and visuals of some of the more unusual quilts that weren’t able to be included in the book. She will bring Minnesota made vintage and antique quilts for showing at the end of the presentation.
The lectures will be held at Newman Center-St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 1203 Fifth St. SE (free parking in the rear of the building). Admission is free for members and $5 for non-members. For more information, call 612-436-0559 or email quilter@mnquilt.org.
