On Saturday, May 20, 4-6 pm, entries for the Minnesota Tool Library’s Make It Challenge MN Tool Library will be judged and prizes awarded during the Maker Social and Award Showcase during Art-A-Whirl in Northeast Minneapolis at the Thorp Building, 1620 Central Ave. NE. Anyone who registers at https://www.simpletix.com/e/make-it-challenge-showcase-2023-tickets-126029#smtx-click as a Make It Challenger can enter one or more items they make before the 20th or they have already made within the last 6 months. Item(s) must meet the challenge theme in at least one of the following criteria: The item is made from reclaimed or repurposed materials or, if upcycled, demonstrates significant alteration. The item encourages/facilitates reuse or sharing within one’s home or community.
The item need not be present to win if it is too large or built in at its location, but pictures will be required. A before/after picture is required of upcycled items, along with a description of the alteration. The items will remain the property of the maker and may be entered in other contests. The Challenge is free and open to the public. Attending the Maker Social and Awards Showcase as a guest is also free. Register in either case.
