May 15, 2020 - May 17, 2020
Event Navigation
Northeast artist John Akre will host “My Northeast and Yours,” an animated film collaged out of photographs and drawings sent by people like you. May 15, 16 and 17, they will create a large-scale stop motion animation by printing those images and arranging them on a large tabletop. Their work creating this animation will be live-streamed.
The three parts of the movie, and the three ideas for images that they’re asking for are the following: What is in an image, drawn or photographed, that introduces Northeast Minneapolis, and says, “Welcome to Northeast”? What is an image, drawn or photographed, that represents a place, or something about a place, that you feel you have ownership of? (My Place). What is an image, drawn or photographed, that represents something about a place that you can give to someone else? (Your Place).
If you draw something, take a picture of it. If you have a picture, keep in mind that there will be several of them on the table at a time, so pictures of things and people will be easier to see than pictures of entire landscapes. Email your images to ne@sloppyfilms.net, then watch Akre animate them.
