Business Consultations with City of Minneapolis: A representative from the City of Minneapolis will meet with business owners and entrepreneurs to share resources (financing, city regulations, and business technical assistance) and assist those who want to start, maintain, or expand a business in the City of Minneapolis. No appointment necessary. In English and Spanish. Collaborator: City of Minneapolis Small Business Team. 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month, 1:30-4:30 pm.
Virtual Citizenship Workshop: Drop-in to online study sessions to practice for your citizenship interview. Work in small groups or individually with a volunteer from Literacy Minnesota. Study English vocabulary, reading, writing, and civics. Classes are held every Monday and Tuesday, 11 am-12:30 pm, through Sept. 6. Exception: Monday, Sept. 5. Online event. People of Nepal: Highlights on Tamang Culture: Nepal is inhabited by 100 caste/ethnic groups and innumerable cultures. Learn about interesting, intertwined cultures among various caste/ethnic groups, with a focus on Tamang rituals, clothing, food and music. Tamang people live in the geographical areas surrounding Kathmandu Valley, the capital city of Nepal. Sponsor: Friends of the Hennepin County Library. Social Security Disability Benefit 101: Social Security Disability provides a source of income to those who are unable to work due to a severe disability. Learn about the basic requirements for Social Security Disability programs, and if this may be an option for you. The presentation will cover two of the basic programs – Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) – and will include information on work requirements for eligibility, income limitations for programs, information Social Security will review when considering a claim, plus options if you are denied Social Security Disability. The session is free, but registration is required. Presented by Central Minnesota Legal Services in partnership with Hennepin County Law Library. Funded by Friends of the Hennepin County Library. PRIDE Gaming: Teens Virtual RPG: PRIDE Gaming: Teens presents “New Library Pages.” Join the Pride edition of teen gaming to explore a series of virtual adventures in the “Monster of the Week” game system.
