“Of the Earth: Climate Change, a Future with Hope” returns to Studio 332, Northrup King Building, 1500 Jackson St NE, during Art-A-Whirl, May 17-19. The exhibit will be showing artwork by 11 mature artists plus art from students at Hill Murray High School and Perpich High school for the Arts and art by young children, all focusing on the healing properties of healthy Earth practices. Pollinator, flower, herbal and Indigenous gardens will be featured. Six teaching tables will include Mother Earth Gardens, the DNR, Kate’s Flower Farm in NE Minneapolis, herbal medicine by Melissa, Planning a Pollinator garden by Kelsey (Sunday only) and making peat pots and germinating seeds. Poets and writers from Perpich Arts High School will give readings Friday, May 17 at 7 pm. Rachael Freed will speak about the importance of leaving positive earth legacies to future generations Saturday, May 18 at 2 pm and 3:30 pm. Russell Balenger will lead a Peace Circle Conversation on creating a healthy diverse planet on Sunday, May 19, 2 pm. There will be a children’s gallery where kids can draw their own pictures of what a healthy planet looks like and the pictures will be hung in their own mini gallery, or they can take them home if they like.
