July 11, 2016 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
Event Navigation
Catholic Eldercare will host a free presentation on Monday, July 11, 1:30-3 p.m. at the MainStreet Lodge, 909 Main St. NE. Along the border between Minnesota and North Dakota lies the beautiful Red River Valley, a geologically distinct region of rich soil, harsh climate, and overwhelming flat land. It was settled in a single pioneer generation, and in the following native-born generations publishing poets flourished there, a tradition of Midwestern folk poetry never before collected or studied – until now. Professor Lawrence Moe has located thousands of Valley poems, mainly from 1900-1940, offering memorabilia pictures of life on that once-remote prairie. In this presentation, Dr. Moe will focus on the Valley poets (mostly everyday folks), and read selections from the best of their work as an illustration and celebration of the memories that those poems hold.. Presented by Dr. Lawrence Moe as part of Catholic Eldercare’s Elder Enrichment Series. Call 612-362-2450 to register.
