Sound Unseen and the Polish American Cultural Institute of Minnesota will present the Minnesota premiere of Polish oddity, “The Lure,” Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m., at Trylon microcinema, 3258 Minnehaha Ave. The film, which is an official selection of the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, is a visceral twist on Hans Christian Andersen’s original Little Mermaid tale, exploring the themes of sexuality, exploitation, and the compromises of adulthood. One sister falls for a human, and as the bonds of sisterhood are tested, the lines between love and survival get blurred. This original gothic story is directed by first-time director Agnieszka Smoczynska. The cost is $12.
