Open Torch: Saturday, April 10, 1:30-5:30 pm. Four hours on their equipment with a set of student tools. Certification needed to participate. Not certified? Sign-up for a Try-iT! Class. Lots of experience, just not at Potekglass? $35 non-members/$25 members.
Open Kiln: Saturday, April 10, 1:30-5:30 pm. Four hours on their equipment with a set of student tools, table workspace and quarter shelf portion of 24″ round kiln to fire your projects. Certification needed to participate. Not certified? Sign-up for a Try-iT! Class. Lots of experience, just not at Potekglass? $35 non-members/$25 members.
Basics from Boron Try-iT Class: Saturday, April 17, 10 am-1 pm. Discover the sculptural potential of durable borosilicate, named for the element boron, which is added as a flux to create an American hard glass. This try-it will explore torchwork basics and each skill taught will culminate in a project after hands-on practice. You will learn to gather molten glass to create a small paperweight, smash and twirl a gather into an icicle ornament and experiment with glassblowing to create a small figure. These are beginner sessions intended to introduce a glass-working approach. You will learn basic techniques specific to that approach with hands-on practice time to get comfortable working with glass and open your eyes to the creative potential of glass. $95 non-members/$69 members.
Italian Softglass Try-iT Class: Saturday, April 24, 10 am-1 pm. These are beginner sessions intended to introduce a glass-working approach. You will learn basic techniques specific to that approach with hands-on practice time to get comfortable working with glass and open your eyes to the creative potential of glass. You will learn to gather molten glass and apply on a mandrel to make beads on the torch. They will then explore surface decoration techniques to enhance beads. Expect to make between 6 and 12 beads depending on your work style. $95 non-members/$69 members.
