Medicare Presentation: Friday, Oct. 7, 10 am, lower level John P. Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill St. NE. Discuss what Medicare covers, what it costs and how to enroll. For those already on Medicare, review the types of Medicare insurance available and factors to consider when deciding what type of insurance is best for you. Letter Writing to Soldiers and Free Pizza Lunch: Friday, Oct. 7, 1 pm, lower level John P. Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill St. NE. Glenda Parkhurst will tell how big an impact letters make to soldiers, followed by time to write to soldiers at Fort Wainwright in Alaska, where the suicide rate is very high. Afterward, enjoy a free pizza lunch. Cost is free; however, preregistration is required no later than Monday, Oct. 3. Register by calling 763-706-3730.
“Better Places Forests” Tour: Departing from upper level of John P. Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill St. NE Monday, Oct.10, 8:30 am. “Better Places Forests” is America’s first conservation Memorial Forests. Their forests are sustainable alternatives to cemetaries. Instead of graves and tombstones, families chose a private, protected family tree to return their ashes to the earth. Buses will take the group to Scandia to tour the forest and then lunch out that way. Register for this trip by calling 763-706-3730. The cost is $2 for the bus ride and anything that you spend on your own for lunch.
“Plan Your Move” Lunch & Learn: Thursday, Oct. 13, lower level John P. Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill St. NE. Local Realtor/SRES, Renee Miller of Keller Williams Realty Elite, touches on understanding home values, timing your move, market statistics and how realtors market your home to get top dollar. She will go over resources and the use of her referral partners to help you downsize and declutter. Cost is free; however, you must register no later than Oct. 10. Call 763-706-3730.
Zumba – 16 years and older: Mondays, Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24 at Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill St. NE. Take the “work” out of workout by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. MUST Register. Family Basketball: Children7-14 years old with an adult. Families will be able to spend time with and work together in a team and competitive environment through coach-led activities and games, along with some free-shooting time. $2 drop-in fee per person at the door (please bring exact change or small bills). Chalk Art Walk: All ages. Oct. 15 & 16. Participate in the Chalk Art Walk for a chance to share some joy with the community, and you may even win a prize. Free.
