Registration open for free Pre-K in Columbia Heights
Event Navigation
Starting with the 2016-2017 School Year, Columbia Heights Public Schools will offer free Pre-K 4 programming for students at Highland, North Park and Valley View elementary schools. Pre-K 4 supports academic, social, emotional, and physical development. Programming is aligned with kindergarten curriculum and the Minnesota Early Learning Standards. Students must be four by Sept. 1, 2016 to enroll.
Each school offers morning and afternoon classes. Valley View will also offer a full-day pilot program with qualified students selected by random lottery drawing. The full-day pilot at Valley View is only open to students who qualify for free or reduced lunch and who live within that school boundary area.
Families must enroll their student at the Placement Center, 1440 49th Ave. NE, weekdays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The deadline for consideration in the full-day pilot program is Aug. 22 at noon. All students who submitted enrollment packets for Pre-K 4 will be notified of their placement status. Transportation is provided to students who live within the boundary of the school they are scheduled to attend.
Columbia Heights Public Schools also offers early childhood programming for children birth to five. For more information, visit www.colheights.k12.mn.us/ec or call 763-528-4517.
