Church of the Holy Cross, 1621 University Ave. NE, will have its Septemberfest, Friday-Sunday, Sept. 9-11. On Friday, 5-10 p.m., there will be live music by Nyes’ World Most Dangerous Polka Band, the church’s famous fish fry, and Nordeast beer.
Saturday activities, 4-10 p.m.,will include PopBang! at 7 p.m., authentic Polish food and St. Hedwig beef sandwiches, mystery gifts, a liquor raffle, and a Polish spirits raffle.
Sunday begins with Polka Mass at 9:30 a.m., followed by festivities 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Chicken dinner by Jax Café costs $11 and will be served until 2 p.m. The Teddy Bear Band will perform at 12:30 p.m., and the Dolina Dancers at 2 p.m. There will be a huge KidZone for tots to teens, a big wheel, cake walk, theme baskets, a silent auction, a rabbit booth, a wine toss, and crafts.
