May 20, 2016
Event Navigation
Northeast Minneapolis animator John Akre will install his Sloppy Films Stop Motion Animation Station in the Northrup King Building, 1500 Jackson St. NE, during Art-A-Whirl. He’ll be working on a stop-motion animated film and invites anybody dropping by to help create the film, Friday, May 20, 5-9 p.m., Saturday, May 21, noon-7 p.m., and Sunday, May 22, noon-4 p.m.
Akre will use a large space on the floor to create animation with paper cut-outs and even people. Art supplies will be available for adults and children to create art, people, and other props, that can be animated on the floor to tell the story of how Minneapolis evolved from prairie and forest to buildings, streets and people, and to imagine how the city might evolve from what it is now. The animation created will be part of a film that is to be called “Minneapolis Beneath the Asphalt.” For more information, visit www.JohnAkre.com.
