Stories in Poetry
October 3, 2016 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
Event Navigation
Catholic Eldercare will host a free presentation on Monday, Oct. 3, 1:30-3 p.m. at the MainStreet Lodge, 909 Main St. NE. No matter how you slice it, people love stories. People may think of young children eagerly gathering into a circle at “story time”, but children of all ages love stories. People find stories in novels and movies, history and drama, myths and folktales, and in poetry. A story is a “narration” with a plot, one or more characters, and some kind of narrator; it could be drawn from life or imagined; it might teach a lesson. Dr. Lawrence Moe will sketch some of the structural features of narrative poetry, and share some examples that are either brief or excerpted from longer poems. There will be an opportunity for discussion, and for appreciation of great stories in poetry. Presented by Prof. Lawrence Moe as part of Catholic Eldercare’s Elder Enrichment Series. Call 612-362-2450 to register.
