In three years of fighting under the United Nations flag, the United States suffered over 33,000 dead, and saw the controversial recall of General Douglas McArthur by President Harry Truman. Review the causes, see-saw fighting, prolonged negotiations, and national and international political implications. Part 1 will cover the background ofo the North Korean invasion and Chinese intervention through the first six months, to about Christmas, 1950. Monday, March 7, 1:30-3 pm.
