Whether you want to start a career in the trades, try something new, or simply become a well-rounded DIYer, the Minnesota Tool Library’s “Tools for Life” mentorship program aims to provide people of all backgrounds with general knowledge about the trades. Explore common projects and build skills through hands-on workshops, learn from experienced tradespeople and gain familiarity with a variety of tools and types of work. The program will run through May 9 at the Tool Library’s St. Paul location, 1010 Dale St., although some classes may be held in Northeast at 1620 Central Ave. Core instructional hours are Thursdays and Fridays, 11 am-2 pm, with optional and alternate class hours available during evenings or weekends to offer flexibility for those who can’t attend all weekday sessions. Participants will receive free training, OSHA 10 certification, and a yearlong membership to the Tool Library. Apply today at mntoollibrary.org/tools-life. All are welcome; older adults, women, BIPOC, and those with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Interested in teaching for the program? Email programming@mntoollibrary.org to get involved.
