Copygirl Productions presents “Torch Songs, Tangos and Touchdowns,” a one-night-only benefit cabaret featuring songs and dances to classic and modern hits, Saturday, Dec. 15, at 7 pm at Columbia Heights High School’s Performing Arts Center. Proceeds will benefit the Columbia Heights Fine Arts Foundation (CHFAF) and the Minnesota Vixen women’s tackle football team. The cast features talented local artists as well as Vixen players. Tickets are $15 general admission and $25 reserved seating (includes a gift bag) and are on sale now at https://tinyurl.com/torchsongstangostouchdowns. For more information, contact Jodi Rehlander at 763-478-1971 or copygirl48@gmail.com.
CHFAF’s scholarship fund awards graduating seniors in the Columbia Heights School District who are pursing post-secondary education in the performing arts, including technical design and other behind-the-scenes duties.
The Minnesota Vixen are entering their 21st season in 2019; they are the longest continuously-operating women’s tackle football team in the United States, and possibly the world. The team supports itself through player training fees, corporate sponsorship and private donations. The Vixen are a non-profit organization, though not tax-exempt, and just about every dollar raised goes right back into the business.
