The combined choirs of Holy Family Catholic Church, with guest singers, will present the famous “Crucifixion” by Sir John Stainer, Sundays, March 29 and April 5. Written in 1887 by Stainer, who was then organist of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, this mini oratorio has been popular and performed the world over from the time of its writing.
The first performance will be Sunday, March 29, at 3 pm, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5900 West Lake St., in St. Louis Park. The second performance will be Sunday, April 5, at 3 pm, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1621 University Ave. NE.
The soloists are Nathan Romportl, tenor; Brian Hasse, bass; the organist is Samuel Backman; the conductor is Scott Turkington. Admission is free; and there is ample parking.
