Ukrainian Easter Egg Workshop-CANCELED
Event Navigation
UPDATE: Classes on March 21, 28, and April 4th have been cancelled to to the COVID 19 outbreak.
For centuries, Ukrainians have created pysanky, using just a few simple tools. A pysanka is a Ukrainian Easter egg, decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs using a wax-resist method. The word pysanka comes from the verb pysaty, “to write,” as the designs are not painted on, but written with beeswax. Join the Ukrainian American Community Center for small, hands-on classes in the art of pysanka making.
No prior pysanky making experience is required. You will learn the entire pysanky making process, starting with dividing the egg into sections, penciling in the elements of the design, applying the molten wax, dying the egg in several steps and finishing it by removing the wax. Register for this class at eventbrite.com/e/ukrainian-pysanky-workshop-tickets-97554312575 and pay via EVENTBRITE (processing fee applies). Info: facebook.com/events/236201647512201/. Saturdays, March 21, 28, and April 4, 18, 10 am-1 pm, Ukrainian Center, 301 Main St. NE.
