Wearable Art by Martje van de Meerendonk
December 12, 2018 @ 4:00 pm - December 13, 2018 @ 8:00 pm
Wearable art show, two-day event at Fiber Works Mpls, 2423 6th St. NE, Wednesday, Dec. 12 and Thursday, Dec. 13, 4-8 pm, fiberworksmpls.com. Martje van de Meerendonk is a Dutch visual artist and philosopher living in the Minneapolis area. She is both the productive hand and creative mind behind her concept-label M-art, a collection of unique and wearable art.
M-art is all about making textile objects, both as decorative items and one-of-a-kind pieces of clothing and accessories. Martje uses reclaimed textiles and organically produced natural fibers such as cotton and linen. She embraces “sewing mistakes” and regards them as enablers of creative processes which enable her to keep an open mind toward constructing garments and textile pieces.
Her show presents new designs that are part of a collection focused on simplicity in shapes and materials, as well as her work with solid textiles. Her elaborate and exclusive pieces will be featured as well as samples and prototypes. Wearable art for the whole family.
