Nativity Lutheran Church will host a third annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration & Children’s March at 9 am, January 21.
This event will teach about MLK and the civil rights movement. Participants will have opportunities to ask questions, have an open dialogue, create
art projects, and see local artists perform. Parents and adults can help by being a part of this conversation together. This event gives children and youth the opportunity to be heard with a first annual Children’s March. Organizers are expect more than 200 children, youth and families to participate with age-specific activities for elementary-high school.
Hygiene kit items will be collected for the North Minneapolis organization H-Cubed. Please bring items to the collection area at the Nativity Lutheran Church welcome desk. Suggested items include: travel-sized toothpaste/toothbrush, lip balm, hand warmers, granola bars/energy bars, hard
candy, mini hand sanitizer, mini tissues, mini lotion, travel-size deodorant, socks, and gallon-size Ziploc bags.
The community celebration is a collaboration between Saint Anthony Village Residents, Nativity Lutheran Church, Family Services Collaborative, Saint Anthony Village High School’s Dare2BeReal Club, Thrivent Financial Services, and SAVEC, Ryan Stopera of FreeTruth Media, a local activist/artists of the Twin Cities.
