Mold and pour metal during Open Casket, Friday, Nov. 4-Saturday, Nov. 5.
Metal Pour Workshop: Friday, Nov. 4, 6-10 pm, Casket Arts Factory + Sculpture Quad. Learn how to carve imagery, designs, words into a sand mold of a casket form. Choose from imagery and ideas here or create your own (molds are 4″x11″ approx). Then, learn how to pour aluminum from a crucible furnace into the mold, file/grind/polish your casting and colored inks are optional. Ages 9 + up. 8 participant limit. $40 per mold. Opening reception for Jane Powers, Future Seeps into Now: NE Sculpture | Gallery Factory. Bonfire, food truck, music and Singed Nipples Fire Performance in collaboration with The Staboteurs – punk band extraordinaire.
Cabinet of Curious Castings: Saturday, Nov. 5, 10 am-6 pm. Get on the bus and choose a mold or two – butterfly, teeth, chrysalis, sea monkey – to create your small sculpture, necklace, pin, pendant, bolo tie, etc. Lead-free pewter into small silicone molds. All ages. 15-30 minutes. $10-20. No registration required.
