Columbia Heights Public Library offers the following programs for youth during November:
Tinker Time: Block Printing & Book Making: Tuesday, Nov. 1, 4-5:30 pm. Create a sketchbook to hold your best artwork! First, design your own cover by creating a printing plate with a special pen. Then choose your favorite color of ink to print the cover of your sketchbook. Once your cover is done, learn a book binding technique to build the pages of your sketchbook. Then put it all together to make the best sketchbook ever! Ages 7-12. Registration required.
Tinker Time: Shrinky Dinks: Tuesday, Nov. 15, 4:30-5:30 pm. Draw on Shrinky Dink plastic with markers and pencils and then watch them shrink in the library’s toaster oven. Turn your tiny drawing into a keychain, necklace, or pin. Ages 6-12. Registration required.
Tinker Time: Clay Action Figures: Tuesday, Nov. 29, 4-5:30 pm. Do you have a favorite cartoon character? Superhero? Villain? Bring that character to life as you use ceramic hand building and modeling techniques to sculpt a fantastic figure. Teacher demonstrations, discussions, and individualized attention will teach students about the tools, designs, and construction used to build your very own action figure out of clay. Yur figures will be painted and then Artistry will apply a clear glaze so you can enjoy our sculptures for years to come. Ages 6-12. Registration required.
