California Dreamin’
The California Building, 2205 California St. NE, will be open for California Dreamin’, part of the Fall Open Studios weekend hosted by the Arts District and NEMAA. Dates are Nov. 4, 5-10 pm, Nov. 5, 11 am-8 pm, and Nov. 6, 12-5 pm. Artists throughout the building will open their doors to give the public a behind-the-scenes look at their process and offer original art pieces for sale. Art to Change the World will unveil "Mississippi Pearl," a collaborative artwork made of things found in and along the Mississippi River. The event will occur at Homewood Studios, 2400 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, Friday, Nov. 11, 5-8 pm. The creation of Pearl was funded by a Mississippi Water Management Organization Stewardship Fund Program grant and directed by artist Barbara Bridges, who guided a scientist, journalist, mayor, teachers, and artists to complete the work.

Noble Truth Artist Talk: Layl McDill
Step into the wonderland of Layl McDill’s studio in the Flux Arts Building. She shares her space with her husband Josh Blanc as part of Clay Squared to Infinity. Layl creates polymer clay sculptures that focus on wonderment and storytelling and Josh makes handmade tiles. She will give a tour of both her studio and her husband’s and tell a story. “Currents”
"Currents" by sculptor Cameron Zebrun opens Jan. 14 at the Northrup King Building, 1500 Jackson St. NE, Studio 395. Zebrun’s sculptures incorporate sleek lines, elegant curves and seductive colors derived from nature. Cartography, geography and topography also play important roles in his work.
