“Techniques for Ecstasy”
Minneapolis-based textile artist and dancer Alexandra Beaumont will hold a solo exhibition, “Techniques for Ecstasy" at Public Functionary, 1500 Jackson St. NE. The exhibit explores communal spaces for dance and celebration. It will open on May 4 and run through May 25. It will be on view and featured during Art-A-Whirl weekend at the Northrup King Building.

"Prudence and Misfortune" is an exhibition at NE Sculpture|Gallery Factory, 1720 Madison St. NE #14. The work of Michael Sommers, the show is about the Prudence and Misfortune of materials, not lost nor forgotten, but rediscovered, repurposed, shaped by hands and eyes that see and cannot see. This is the 50-year anniversary of the death of Picasso. There are worldwide events planned. David Feinberg and Holly Tappen’s new art show explores the methods, techniques and motifs found in Picasso’s abstract expressionism. The art show will be at Ambiente Gallerie, 505 1st Ave. NE, Suite 1, in May and June. Every year Art-A-Whirl draws over 40k visitors to the NE Arts District. Nonprofit Art to Change the World will introduce Art Passports on Parade as an opportunity to visit artists who belong to Art to Change the World in their studios during Art-A-Whirl May 17-19, 2024. A-Mill Artist Lofts, 315 Main Street SE, will be open during Art-A-Whirl 2024, May 17-19. Hours are Friday, May 17, 5-10 pm ; Saturday, May 18, 10 am-8 pm; and Sunday, May 19, 10-5 pm. The St. Clement campus (901 24th Ave NE) of Holy Cross will host more than a dozen artists showcasing paintings, ceramics, jewelry, woodworking and more during Art-A-Whirl.
