Call for NE Calendar art
The call for art is open for the 2024 Northeast Calendar, coordinated by the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District. Images should represent Northeast in various ways and seasons. Deadline September 1. All mediums welcome; submissions should be print-ready digital images. Artists/photographers are invited to include brief background on what inspired the image and where in Northeast it was made. “We are looking for active, colorful, beautiful and/or funny images that bring cheer and a feeling of togetherness, community,” organizers write. Saturday, June 10, 12-6 pm, Solar Arts Building 2nd floor, 711 NE 15th Ave. Art to Change the World (ACW) will host a body image-themed art show for Pride month. Artist Chris Rackley is a self-proclaimed "mall brat." On days when not in school, Rackley spent his time at the mall sketching, reading, and exploring. In an exhibit at Kohlman & Reeb, Rackley uses drawings, sculptures and an interactive video to explore his memories of a shopping mall in Duluth, Ga. Apply now for The Big Tiny Show
Submit your artwork for Kolman & Reeb Gallery's upcoming juried exhibition, The Big Tiny Show. All subject matter, media and expressions are welcome, as long as they are 12" x 12" x 12" or smaller. Application Deadline: Oct. 25, 2023. Minnesota artists aged 18+ at any stage of their career are encouraged to apply. Show opens Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024 and runs through Saturday, Feb. 3. John Schoolmeesters will premiere his debut film, "The Life of a Painting (2023)" in the same studio where the film was shot.
