Art in the Park
Columbia Heights' first art festival will take place Saturday, Sept. 11, 10 am-6 pm at Kordiak Park, 1845 49th Avenue NE. The event will include 50 artists, ranging from painters to woodturners. A performance area will feature a singer/songwriter, tap dancers and bellydancers. Food trucks will be on hand, and there will be an arts and crafts area for kids. Admission is free. Organized with the assistance of HeightsNEXT.

East Side Neighborhood Services, 1700 2nd St NE, will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its outdoor classroom/sculpture garden Thursday, Sept. 16, 4-5:30 p.m. Bring a blanket and a picnic supper. An ice cream truck and a puppet show are rumored to appear.

The Waite Park Community Council will host a Fall Festival open to all community members and surrounding areas. Meet your fellow neighbors and support local vendors. Sunday, Sept. 19, noon-5 pm, Ukrainian American Community Center, 301 Main Street NE. Free admission. As part of the continuing celebration of Columbia Heights' 100th anniversary, a cultural festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, 2-5 pm, in the Columbia Heights High School Gym, 1400 49th Ave NE. Performers include Black & African-American community singers and poets, Somali Museum Dancers, Korean drummers, Native American drummers, Ecuadorian Dancers, First Lutheran Scandinavian Choir and Dolina Polish Dancers. A Night Under the Stars with G.B. Leighton
Celebrate East Side Neighborhood Services' Camp Bovey with a family event.
