Gather at the Columbia Heights Public Library at 9 am Saturday, Oct. 12, to get safety vests, garbage bags and street assignments. Park assignments are made for families with young children who participate. Each group goes to their area and safely picks up trash from the sidewalks and vegetation along the sidewalks (or park). Owámni: Falling Water Festival is a celebration of indigenous Minnesota cultures. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, October 12, 1-5 pm at Mill Ruins Park and Water Works, 4 West River Pkwy. Owámni is what the Dakota called the area at St. Anthony Falls. Professional Wrestling at Murzyn Hall
The Columbia Heights Lions will host professional wrestling at Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill St. NE, on Saturday, Nov. 23. Doors open at 6 pm and bell time is 7 pm. The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will roll into the neighborhood Thursday, Dec. 12. In its 26th year of operation, the train will stop at 37th and Stinson Blvd. approximately 8:15-8:45 pm. The Lone Bellow and Tiera Kennedy are scheduled to perform. The train raises money for food banks in its areas of operation; East Side Neighborhood Services will be the beneficiary.
