Mayor’s Monarch Pledge
On Wednesday, August 17, 5-8 pm, Sullivan Park, 721 51st Ave NE, the community is invited to celebrate the monarch butterfly. This is a bilingual Spanish and English celebration with food trucks, games, traditional Mexican dance and music, an Encanto dance party, a monarch costume parade, and an opportunity to learn more about how to help monarch butterflies. Northeast Minneapolis-based artist Ellie Kidder is seeking participation from women (including femme/transgender/non-binary) for a new art project funded by Minnesota State Art Board called Women of Northeast Minneapolis. The finished work will present a variety of stories about the communities the participating women are part of, in the form of writings and portraits.
