20th annual Ukrainian Heritage Festival
Sunday, Sept. 19, noon-5 pm, Ukrainian American Community Center, 301 Main Street NE. Free admission. Try the varenyky eating contest, listen to the Ukrainian Village Band, watch the pysanky (Easter egg decorating) demonstration. New this year: Vyshyvanka Fashion Show and Prymachenko photo props. Holiday polka dance at Murzyn Hall
The Midwest Polka Association (MPA) invites the community to enjoy an afternoon of polkas and waltzes at Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill St. NE, Sunday, Dec. 5, 1-5 pm. Residents of Columbia Heights, Fridley, and Spring Lake Park are invited to participate in a free catalytic converter marking event at Gary’s Automotive, 6519 Old Central in Fridley, Friday, Jan. 7, 7 am-3 pm.
