Lebanese Festival
St. Maron Maronite Catholic Church, 602 University Ave. NE, will hold its annual Lebanese Festival Saturday, Sept. 21, 12-7 pm, and Sunday, Sept. 22, 11 am-6 pm. SACA Thrift Store will host its first-ever fashion show, showcasing wedding, work wear, school fashion and Halloween outfits from the store. Models are volunteers and friends of SACA, including Columbia Heights Mayor Amáda Márquez Simula. Purse Bingo will also be part of the event, where attendees can play for just $1 per card for a chance to win a purse. St. Anthony Fire Dept. open house
As part of Fire Prevention Week, St. Anthony Fire Dept. will hold an open house Saturday, Oct. 5, 1-4 pm, at the department's garage at 3505 Silver Lake Rd. Firefighters will demonstrate a live burn and allow visitors to use a firehose and get a close-up look at the fire equipment. Sparky the Firedog will be there, and lunch will be served. Residents will also have a chance to recycle used home fire extinguishers.

Learn the basics of emergency preparedness at Ready Camp, hosted by the City of Minneapolis' Emergency Management department, on Oct. 22 and 23. The free two-day training at the Emergency Operations Training Facility will provide you knowledge and skills to build an emergency kit, develop a communication plan, prepare for severe weather emergencies and recovery from an emergency or disaster. East Side Neighborhood Services, 1700 2nd St NE, 1:30-3 pm, Thursday, Oct. 24. Free flu and COVID shots for the community, hosted by ESNS. Located in the gym of ESNS. Walk up, no need to register. Open Casket Nov. 8-10
The Casket Arts Campus will hold its annual Fall Open Studios event, “Open Casket,” November 8-10. Three buildings feature four floors of studios in the Casket Arts Building and more in the adjacent Carriage House and Factory.
